Dr. Lisa Hutchison grew up north of Toronto in a small town called Stouffville. She currently lives in Beamsville with her husband, son and a mixture of “land of misfit” animals.
She began her journey into veterinary medicine at a very young age. At the age of 6, she decided that she wanted to help take care of animals. At 13, she began working part-time at a local veterinary clinic and was captivated by the profession.
She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in 1998. Initially she started out in mixed animal medicine for the first year and a half in a small town south of London. A change in career direction brought her to the Niagara region and she then spent 6 years at the Niagara Veterinary Emergency Clinic where she honed her surgical and emergency medicine skills. During her tenure there, she did some locum work in the area, including some time at Huntington Animal Hospital.
Because of the long hours, she then decided to change up her career direction to allow a better life/work balance and to start a family. Since then she has been enjoying small animal preventative medicine in general practice. She joined the Huntington Animal Hospital team in 2013. She has since found her “tribe” within this clinic due to its family-like atmosphere.
Dr. Lisa is Level 2 Fear Free certified and is a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner.
In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, yoga, glamping, and crafting.
Professional interests: surgery, pain management, acupuncture/rehabilitation, ophthalmology, dentistry.
